Facebook Privacy Settings
Morning All
Just having a look over my Facebook account and I think I want to start setting up some lists and then placing different 'friends' into different lists so as to start controlling what things about my life different people can see.
Are you controlling your data in a similar way on Facebook or do you allow everybody to see everything.
How have you locked things down? What 'lists' do you have and how do you control them?
Just looking for thoughts to help my decision making

Re: Facebook Privacy Settings
I allow everyone to see everything ( I think..anyway it's set to default)
Instead I just restrict what I put up there in the first place

Sounds like the most sensible idea after all.
Facebook is such a retarded social networking tool. It sould be renamed to my real CV. Some of the crap people put up on there and then wonder why they are branded knobs.

Re: Facebook Privacy Settings
I have two Facebooks accounts (one for CF, and one for Family).
On the Family account, it is set "Friends only", except for-
Facebook Search Results (Public Search Results box is not ticked)
Add me as a friend
Send me a message
Which are set as "Friends of Friends"

As Rob states you can now add people to different lists but on the same account, means you can restrict one and give full privileges to the other..

Re: Facebook Privacy Settings
I have 2 accounts the same as Foreverwar. Makes it a lot simpler for me and less confusing for people who don't know me by my alter ego and wouldn't recognise the name.

Re: Facebook Privacy Settings
You've been able to do this sort of thing for ages, I have 'lists' for online 'friends', family, close friends and old school acquaintances
I limit what I put on sites like these too, you never know what the ToS say they can do with your info once they have it ..for example, I don't post photographs or videos on there (I have a personal website for that kind of thing)

That's pretty much what I do, although rather than allow everyone I only allow "Friends".
I'm amazed at some of the stuff people put on their profiles... some of my Facebook "Friends" not only have their email addresses visible on their profiles but also stuff such as mobile numbers, postal addresses, etc.
I've got no contact info at all on mine, no school history, no employment history...

Re: Facebook Privacy Settings
After much kicking and screaming I have dragged my self out the dark ages and joined up...
Maybe, just maybe I will now be able to keep up with the conversations that go on at work lol..
