Norton 360 - Replacement suggestions?
Hi,
When I bought wifes PC about a year ago it came bundled with Norton 360. Our year is nearly up and I don't fancy paying out (about £70?) to carry on with the 'subscription'.
Ive seen Avast been bounced around quite a few forums, is it any good? Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Just scrubbed the trial of NIS 2010 for MSE - all good so far, so another vote for MSE!

My daughters just started using MSE and seems happy with it.
I will be giving it a look for my notebook when my Eset sub runs out in a month or so.

Friday - www.giveawayoftheday.com
Online Armor ++ free on the day - a decent firewall with a rather so-so antivirus (Ikarus engine does very poorly in VB100).
Not sure if you could disable the AV componnent, and use firewall/webcontrol of that, with Avast or MSE for Antivirus.

Re: Norton 360 - Replacement suggestions?
i use this on several computers
http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-...t-security.php
it can take a few days of reading the notifications and choosing to always allow but so far its caught everything that's been thrown at it

the Comodo AV suffers from dishing out a hell of a lot of false positives. Aslo the defense and security can get really infuriating if you actually want to use your machine lol The firewall seems ok though

What he said.
Its surprisingly good for a MS Security application, looks like they finally learnt after One Care.
I use it here as well.

Re: Norton 360 - Replacement suggestions?
I never buy renews for Norton. Far, far cheaper to buy a new boxed version and just enter the key.
For example, I just bought 3PC version of Norton IS 2010 for around £19. Boxed.
Also remember that you get the new version free during the subscription period, so if 2011 comes out I get that too.

When was the last time you used Norton/Symantec?
They have cleaned up there act as far as resource usage goes. No AV catches everything so you must use a layered approach.
