Replacement for a Norton 360? The Triumph Bonneville is highly regarded...

I've used AVG Free and Avast. Both seem to do a good job.

Like has been said earlier ' Norton can slow your machine down'.
I have used Norton/Symantec products for a number of years!
Currently running 360 v3 which is much improved against v2.
(Running Intel machine with 3.2Ghz processor)

If the £70 subscription you mention is to buy online from Symantec it is too expensive.
We use Norton Internet Security 2009 and when the subscription was due to expire i just bought the same product from PC World for about £25 and just used the product code to continue for another year. It was a lot cheaper than purchasing another 12 months online direct from Symantec plus no reinstalling as the product is the same.

i suppose if you don't know much about windows security.
running Eset Smart Security, it found a few holes in my firewall but said they weren't generally used by hackers.

As an update to my earlier post re 360 v3, v4 now available to update earlier versions.
Feedback on v4 to see if any better.

If it's the same rules as IS then you can download updates while in subscription period. I've installed IS2009 and then got 2010 installed. Just waiting out the 50 days till subscription ends then I can install 2010 I bought at Costco for £18.

# Same here using Norton 360 3.0 premier - for my new Dell xps 8100 i7 intel 860 (2.80ghz 8mb) O/S windows 7 (Home Premier 64bit)

If you look on the back of the box for 360 it states that 360 is striped down version, so is much lighter on the resouces of the computer, thou 360 won't let me download or open any .RAR files nor let me load up certain web sites on my new computer as of yet.. Any body out there to could help me with that ?

I've found 360 to be on a uneven level but as systemorks hasn't released a patch for to use systemworks on windows 7, I'm going to stick with norton 360 until then.

As for norton slowing your machine down, yes but you need to have a good set up computer Eg: memory & HD drive - for everything to run. (enough free space). Many I guess have tried to shoe horn nortons software into a low spec machine & still think it will run ok with other programmes in the background - wrong.
