Avast! Antivirus V5 Final released

Avast! Antivirus Free V5 has finally been released along with their paid for internet security suite.

I just installed it and works fine after 20 mins of fiddling...

Beware not to update and to remove previous versions, i did an update from 4.8 to 5 and i couldnt get realtime scanner online, so i had to uninstall 5 and also use the 4.8 removal tool and then reinstall 5.

All seems well atm.

If you use newsgroups you should turn off newsgroup scanning in the mail settings.

Also 1 of the bugs that was in the Beta is still around. After an install the tray icon may not show, however deselecting that option and re enabling fixes it.

If you download alot of newsgroups then if scanning is set for that then it'll slow things down considerably.

i quite like the new voice they have for saying virus database has been updated. It does sound so computerized.

The first thing i did when i started using the Beta months ago is turn off all voices.

had a strange issue with Avast last nite, i had a message saying that it found a Virus on a file on one of my partitions and it could possibly be in the memory and to restart and do a realtime boot scan which it did. It found NO! problems on my C Drive what so ever yet for some reason windows needed reactivating.
