The thing is, a lot of that article is based upon the assumption that UAC (as implemented in Vista) worked and didn't irritate people..

Now, I am not saying that all the article is wrong. The firewall and antivirus warnings in vista were much more prominent (as I think they need to be).

But, the problem with UAC in vista is that it generated so many warnings that most people either turned it off, or just clicked "OK" on the prompts to get rid of them without really reading them.

It does raise some interesting points about cloud computing though. I always find it amazing that companies are willing to trust the running of their most important systems to a company they don't really know, and thy are happy to communicate with it over the internet. Even if the comms are encrypted, encryption can be broken,
