How do you uninstall Personal Antivirus?

I accidentally install the personal antivirus thinking that it was from my real virus protection and instead installed this mess of a program that's totally ruining my computer. It won't give me the option of uninstalling it either. I have looked at websites trying to get rid of it and I just keep getting the same one and it doesn't help at all. Does anyone know what I can do? My mom is going to be ****ed when all these pop ups about viruses that don't even exist keep popping up 24/7. And, it won't let me on a bunch of websites either. Ahh! Help please, asap!!!!!! Thanks!!!

Re: How do you uninstall Personal Antivirus?

I managed to get rid of it on a friends computer but it involved alot of messing around and going in the registry. Your best bet is to reformat.

A bit drastic for the first option.

Grab the free anti-malware program here:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Install that and run. It will nuke most of these frightware things.

It may block access to that site. Let me know if it does are there are other ways and means..

The are plenty of guides here including a Youtube video on removal of this pervasive piece of Malware.

I reckons that anti Malware bytes is the best software with any chance of removing it. It'll pick up any virus' that this fake software has put on the machine & remove them for FREE! You can pay for this software buts just if you want it running all the time keeping an eye on things for you. The on demand scanner and removal of anything it finds is FREE & it has one of the highest detection rates.

Defo recommended

Re: How do you uninstall Personal Antivirus?

ive done it plenty of times.....

Download Malwarebytes..... Restart PC in safe mode and do a system restore to a point when PC wasnt infected.

Install Malwarebytes and do a full scan...

Then make sure u have a tidy upto made antivirus on ur system and do a full scan with that.

It's pretty good at keeping up with the new 'nasties'. As Welshchris said sometimes you have to attack from safe mode if the machine is badly compromised but it's always the first tool I try for infected clients.
