network connections damaged by virus

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone knew of a tool to restore damaged network connections after a major virus infection.
I seem to have successfully eradicated virut (a known nasty one!) from my gf's laptop but at the loss of some files.

I reinstalled SP2 and have run sfc /scannow and tons of virus scans but am now stuck because all network connections have been somehow screwed up. Probably by rogue registry entries etc.

I have tried uninstalling network devices and pointing them to the location of drivers on a USB stick etc but can't fix them.

All network devices are showing a yellow ! saying there's a problem with the driver but I can't install fresh drivers...

Is there an app or guide on getting that sorted?

Any help much appreciated...

Re: network connections damaged by virus

The virut virus is a right nasty lil one.

My advice for this one would be to reformat because of the variants of this virus and the damage it does.

A lot of people who have had it thought they could remove it and then reinstall over it. Some can and some cases it sits in the xp setup folder and copies itself right back over. Some variants of it have been polymorphic.
