Re: pc guard inactive

The only way to resolve this is to call Tech Support who will call their 2nd line support to fix this for you.

151 from a Virgin phone or 0845 454 1111 from any other phone.

Re: pc guard inactive

Pc guard. Better off buying a decent anti virus and get a free firewall from comodo or zonealarm.

Coz Pc guard slowed my pc right down to a crawl and is a real resource hogger.

Re: pc guard inactive

I have used PC Guard (and its predeccesoor with ntl, whatever that was called) for years and have always been happy with it . . . until this latest Kapersky version. On both my old XP laptop and my powerful Vista desktop, there have been many problems, particularly incredibly slow to turn on. Something to do with it also tried to prevent them from shutting down from time to time.

I have uninstalled PC Guard and Broadband Advisor and installed the new Microsoft one. Only been on for a week but so far I am impressed. The reviews are encouraging. It is free. I find Windows firewall (plus router firewall) quite adequate

Find it here

Simple answer to this. Uninstall it and download this:

Re suggestion above:

I've tried the call centre route since PC Guard regularly (though not always) refuses to run more than once on my multi-user Vista installation.
My first email request was met with the blank reply that, yes, I could only run one installation at one time. Plainly this is ridiculous because a. I sometimes can run more than one and b. What's the point of having a Vista home installation allowing the very useful and timesaving Switch User facility if I can't have more than one PC Guard active?
O dear, I recently tried again by phone. Tech Support do not understand the meaning of 2nd Line Support and could only advise me to wait a couple of hours then try again. I explained why this was a nonsense suggestion so they could only advise a pointless reinstallation of PC Guard. Wot 2nd line support?
I've posted this message or something similar before now on this or some other forum and got a similar reply to the italics above. It just don't work I'm afraid.

Re: pc guard inactive

Also had major PC Guard probs. Tech Supp told me to uninstall as it is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA SERVICE PACK 2. Why don't Virgin tell you this BEFORE installation? And there is something called FREEDOM which appeared in my notification area which I was told to ignore! Not good enough. BTW you can get through on 0800 183 1234 (free) if you go through all the menu options. Could be a long call after all....
