The latest Facebook fake virus - FanCheck
Has anyone else been noticing loads of people mentioning this "fan check" virus?
They're all saying to pass on a status telling everyone it's a virus and to remove the app.
I've not used the app myself, but i did read something about it and it seems the message has been sent out as a hoax, to encourage people to Google info on it which will lead them to dodgy sites.
More info here: http://www.sophos.com/blogs/gc/g/200...leads-malware/
But apparently Facebook are updating, causing lots of recent status updates to be lost, and people are assuming this is the "virus" lol.

Re: The latest Facebook fake virus - FanCheck
I was wondering why I was seeing status messages I had written months ago show up today and all recent ones vanish....

Re: The latest Facebook fake virus - FanCheck
I can't find anything to say that Facebook are updating though, i would have thought they'd announce it - unless i'm looking in the wrong place or they don't usually announce.
People still believe it's the application, some are even saying their updates are back to normal after removing it.
I still think it's guff though, i've not been tagged in any of its pics or used it at all and my updates were screwed.
Seems ok now anyway

Re: The latest Facebook fake virus - FanCheck
It is weird, my feed started to go wrong as soon as this app started appearing and I was tagged.
Somehow the app was listed in my applications even though I had not installed it.
I removed the app and my feed went back to normal.
Probably a coincidence I guess but I am still puzzled on how it installed itself without me authorising it.
