Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 ((9.0.0.463)

Hi all,

FYI: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 has been released.

Anybody know if this will just update a KIS 2009 to KIS 2010 or will I need a new product key / licence?

Cheers

Lee

Re: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 ((9.0.0.463)

Hi,
yes you can update to 2010- but you must uninstall 2009 first. When uninstalling just tell it to keep activation details, don't save anything else. This is so you get a clean install, this prevents any problems. 2010 is a very different utility to 2009.

Hi,

Got the same answer from Kaspersky Lab support - done but still the same. Even tried download the key file from my Personal Cabinet and activating that way - still no activation.

Hi Lee,
shame you didn't get it going. To cover when it ask's how you want to activate, just click on it to start trial. That will give you cover for 30 days. Then go to the Kaspersky UK website and contact Support. You are not on your own a few people have had the same problem you have, I believe they give you a new activation code or keyfile.

I downloaded 10 and it automatically recognised my 2009 licence and upgraded.

Re: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 ((9.0.0.463)

I just installed 2009 free from Barclays (3 licenses) is this upgradable to 2010?

Edit***
Just upgraded my stand alone version from 2009 to 2010.
Uninstalled but saved application data & activation detail as mentioned above, restarted, installed 2010 found key got full year will try on wife's lappy in a mo.
This is on vista home premium.

EDIT 2***
The upgrade also works fine for the Barclays "FREE" version running Vista. Also installed it on Win7 64bit without any issues.

Re: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 ((9.0.0.463)

Just one thing to mention Lee before you wait a week for Kaspersky to get back to you. Was the KIS2009 a OEM disc? and what version does the personal cabinet state the key is for? They used a lot of version 6 keys for 2009, only version 7 and later allow upgrade if retail.
I had KIS2009(OEM) installed on another machine and wen`t to upgrade to 2010 but kept getting "The key is not valid for this product" or words to that effect. After contacting support they said that because it`s an OEM that means you cannot upgrade to the latest until you have re-newed your subscription, oh and that will cost 30 odd quid!
I said you can get KIS2010 from ebuyer for £20 (brand new retail) but they didn`t care.

Kaspersky support sucks!
