zone alarm 'missing file'?
Using zone alarm basic free - went to do 'important' update and have twice now received this message "This application has failed to start because VSPUBAPI.dll was not found. Reinstalling the app may fix this"
what does it mean / what should we do?

Re: zone alarm 'missing file'?
I would suggest:
- Download the latest version from HERE (direct link to application download)
- Use Add/Remove Programs' to uninstall ZoneAlarm
- Physically disconnect your PC from the Internet
- Install ZoneAlarm
- Connect PC to the Internet

Re: zone alarm 'missing file'?
would it make any odds that we're on mobile bb and it keeps cutting out a lot?
you have to refresh a page sometimes or open another one to regain a connection.

Re: zone alarm 'missing file'?
Pass.
The missing file could be causing ZoneAlarm to miss a beat, which could be affecting your connection.
You won't know if it's the cause of your connection problems though unless you fix it. If your problems carry on after ZoneAlarm has been reinstalled and is running correctly then you'll know you've got issues elsewhere.

Re: zone alarm 'missing file'?
You might have problems downloading the file if your connection's that bad. Perhaps download it onto a different machine and then transfer it over on a USB stick or something. That would avoid any problems with the downloaded file.

Re: zone alarm 'missing file'?
further to the above, I would just like to say that trying to do anything to do with ZA killed our pc! Things disappeared, things wouldn't load... had to reinstall windows! bah. Will just endeavour to be very careful presently, but if anyone has any ideas what would work ok with a paltry 5mb mobile broadband connection and an elderly pc..?

Re: zone alarm 'missing file'?
The speed of the connection shouldn't be a factor really, any of the free firewalls should suffice - just do a quick forum earch for 'firewall' and you'll get a million and one hits.
You might be perfectly OK with the Windows XP built-in one, but that won't give you protection from 'nasties' on your PC trying to connect to their home servers.
