Staff Monitoring

Hi,

Anybody know of any free or cheap software that can be installed on a staff members PC that will throw out their Internet usage for the day.

At the moment don't want to block anysites, but must be transparent.

Cheers
Michael

Re: Staff Monitoring

What OS are you using, and are the computers connected to the same network?

Re: Staff Monitoring

You do realise you have to inform your staff that monitoring can take place?

Re: Staff Monitoring

It's good practice to have a logon banner as well that reminds them (every morning) that their usage of the system may be subject to monitoring.

That way they can't ever say that they weren't told about it

Re: Staff Monitoring

If you are on Windows XP Pro (not home), with a Domain Controller, using Active Directory Group Policies, you should be able to block internet access with a user policy. It won't monitor as such. To do that you probably need a proxy / firewall between the user and the internet connection. That's one of the reasons why my company moved onto Microsoft's Small Business Server, albeit at a cost.
