Mailwasher checks your email at the mail server before downloading it to your pc so you can delete it at the server before it even gets on your pc, plus you can set up rules for blacklisting bouncing and downloading, its a nice piece of kit and can save you getting infected and even save you accumulating if somebody starts sending you lots of funny video clips as you can delete without downloading, its a nice piece of kit.

I've used MailWasher for a few years now - it's just a simple pop3 reader with the abaility to delete mails before downloading as you say, BUT it's an extra step before downloading.

I used to bounce the messages back, but found that it's a pointless exercise.

I'm also thinking of ditching it and letting Outlook 2007 deal with the junk.

Yeah the way outlook lets you setup mail rules is really nice, I still havent made my mind up whether I want to jump the outlook or outlook express way yet

Oh please don't even consider this...

Not only do you mostly end up spamming some innocent party but Mailwasher bounces can be recognised as different to mailserver rejections.

Thanks for the heads up mate, I havent used mailwasher myself now for about 2 years but when I did use it, crap mail got deleted and any dodgy ones would get bounced, if only I'd known this then...
