System Configuration Utility

I've just had a virus on windows live messenger called live.messenger.com which started up everytime i restarted the computer.I've been on run,msconfig then startup and unchecked the box next to it but how do i permanently delete it from the system configuration utility?

I managed to fix it, thanks. But i can't remember if the default for system configuration utility is normal startup, diagnostic startup or selective startup.

Normal startup, is what i would have thought the default is.

Diagnostic will output everything on screen i think, as for selective, i think it only loads what needs loading.
