sun java trojan

for the last few weeks norton antivirus has picked up a couple of trojan.Byteverify in the folder c/documentsand settings/compaq-owner/application data/sun/java/deployment/cache/6.0/32/50c2ce60-31665452 norton picked it up and deleted it when i ran a scan. after looking into it i have found apparently that this causes no danger to my pc as its kept in this java console, the code is in there but cant be used? anyway thats deleted, then yesterday it found VaannnaaBaa.class in the exact same file. norton didnt repair it or delete it but has been put in quarantine. i have read up on this a bit as much as i can understand somehow you can clear the cache in this java console. but what i want to know is!!!
1. can i delete the trojan horse safely from quarantine?

2. why isnt norton stopping things things from getting in there in the first place
3. in the java console under general if you go into temory internet files settings there is a tick you can put against "keep temporary files on my computer" which is already ticked. if i untick it will it stop these trojans and wot not sitting in there, and will it cause any problams if i untick it. also will it affect the temporary internet files in internet explorer from being saved if i untick it.

4. why me lol

5. please help anyway do i need this stupid java thing or shall i just uninstall it? ive never had any problems with it before only the last 3 weeks and i havent been doing anything different.

thanks for your help from jane

Re: sun java trojan

1. Most likely, i have deleted viruses form quarantine, then run a full scan and avg doesnt pick anything up.

2. Norton is rubbish, there are better free alternatives (AVG or avast), or if you want a paid AV NOD32 is a good one.

3. Temporary internet files are there so access to web pages is quicker as it already has an image of the page cached.

4. Who knows.

5. Older java patches are more prone to viruses. The lastest patch is Java 6 update 3.
