Re: Norton removal tool
let me know if it makes a big difference, i am running xp profesional on sevice pack 2, i installed norton internet security 2007 fairley recently and the pc seems to have slowed down a lot, mainly really slow to start up it takes about 8 minutes. When i purchaced it from pc world they didnt say anything about how much it would slow it down.

Re: Norton removal tool
I paid £80 for Norton Systemworks some years ago, it slowed the system down to a crawl.
I ended up having to re-install windows to get rid of it all, avoid like the plague.

Re: Norton removal tool
Sounds like my vista installation
Actually to be fair to Microsoft its not really that bad on mine except from when its done an auto update and decides it needs to configure the update on the next boot up
(I tend to use OSX/Linux, depending on the pc I'm on unless I wish to run a specific windows application or play a game)

My question would be why would you want to leave Norton on your PC? I agree with Zing...
My nephew got a new laptop with a 90 day trial version of 360 on it. I was cursing it within 5 minutes...a bloody nanny software, "do you want to do this?" YES! "Well you may have clicked on Allow..."
Why the hell do they think that I would want to back up all my personal files onto their server is beyond me...
Sorry, I am drunk and just letting off steam against Norton...

Re: Norton removal tool
Norton is useless imho.
I have used Nod32 for about 3 years now and never had a problem.
last month I upgraded to version 3.
Here is the link to download a 30 day free trial:
http://www.eset.com/download/index.php
It's quick and reasonably priced and fully customizable.

The Only reason i'm not using NOD32 currently is I need to protect multiple computers and I got a good deal on a multi-user license for Kaspersky
Which is also very good, If you are going to pay for an anti-virus I'd recommend either of those 2
