R there any other ways of speeding up my pcs startup other than removing norton?

Sure, use start then run and type msconfig and disable anything you dont need to be started at start up.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO careful, only untick things from the startup tab unless you know what they are!

Yes i found out the hard way, my windows is set to selective start up if i have it on atomatic there are all sorts of errors

Most of them are obvious like msnmgr wonder what that could be, AVG, spot the virus software, what could be deleted.

Just have a wee rake around and you will find stuff in start up that you could run from start/progs or on the desktop as and when you actually needed it.

Granted some stuff will be alien to some people but check it first if not sure.

The pc should be set to selective startup by default anyway.
