PC Guard activation
Just trying to install PC Guard on a new laptop. When I enter my e-mail address & password to activate, it rejects my account telling me I am on dial up only.
Is there a workaround.

Re: PC Guard activation
PCguard = Rubbish
Get AVG or Avast as they are much better antiviruses, and are not heavy on resources like PCguard.

Re: PC Guard activation
Each to his own, I run Authentium CSAV on my main PC but PC Guard/Netguard has been no trouble at all on my other laptop, had it on since it became available.

Re: PC Guard activation
Sorted, when I upgraded to the VIP package including 20 Meg they gave me a new modem instead of using the STB as before. This was eventually switched to a new account number for the BB only and the modem now has a new password, just a pity no one bothered to tell me at the time.

Re: PC Guard activation
Check the advanced settings for privacy in Internet options.
“Tools” & “internet options”, select the “Privacy” tab.
Now select the “Advanced” button. This will give you the below options.
Check the options “Override Automatic cookie handling” and the options for first and third party cookies. Also check the option to “Always allow session cookies”.
Click ok and then apply & then ok in the Internet options box.
Restart Internet Explorer.

Re: PC Guard activation
Sorry, I think you may have misunderstood my problem.
I was trying to set up a brand new laptop with PC Guard.
I downloaded PC Guard, installed it but before it will run for the first time you have to activate it online by entering your e-mail address and password. I have had the same password for my e-mail etc for almost five years now, the only thing that changed was the new cable modem when I upgraded to 20 Meg, this has been transfered to a new account number with a new password which I now have.
As a long time ZAPro user I am well able to set up cookie controls etc.
Jim.

Re: PC Guard activation
Virgin Media PCGuard is NOT compatible with STB broadband. It will only work with modem broadband

Re: PC Guard activation
I think you'll find it is compatible with STB and any other connection you care to have.

I think you will find that I said I used to use my STB for my BB, only switched to a modem when upgrading to 20 Meg.
However, Ntl Netgaurd/ VM PC Guard worked perfectly ever since its introduction via my wireless router to my own laptop when I was using 10 meg via Samsung STB.
The new laptop is a present for the missus.
Jim.

Re: PC Guard activation
netguard and older versions of PCGuard may have been compatible.
PCGuard 6 is not
Unless it done in certain way, when you switch to modem broadband you are given a new username and password. This is tied to the modem rather than the STB and you have to use those details with PCGuard
Even if people stay on STB broadband and get a new PC, PCGuard no longer works
