Thumbs down Norton Slowing Computer Down Alot

Norton is very very good at stopping viruses and telling me when my computer has innocent spyware in it but, norton is a really large file to install and it slows down my computer a awful lot. Dont know why... is there a way to speed it up a bit?

Norton is a system hog, bin it and get NOD32 best a/v you can get in my opinion.

Quite a number of us here use Eset's Nod32.It has a much lower use of resources on a PC and has one of the best reps for a pay for AV.Plus the online help from Eset is very efficient..I've always got a personal answer in a very short time and they keep going until you are sorted.

Nod32 is well worth the money and it's nowhere near as expensive as you might think.

Re: Norton Slowing Computer Down Alot

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

You might need that.

Free Anti-Virus Protection - Active Virus Shield
This is the best free AV available. It's based on the Kaspersky engine, but is free. Ignore the AOL bit, the name is deceptive...
Otherwise... Avast.

Re: Norton Slowing Computer Down Alot

Kaspersky is going cheap on amazon at the moment, its got a good detection rate but i'm not sure how much of a resource hog it is.

AVS is good, so I suspect Kaspersky is better, otherwise why pay for it?

Re: Norton Slowing Computer Down Alot

I use Kaspersky.

Much better IMO than Norton, & not as much of a resource hog.
