Pigeon PP spyware problem

Hi,
Can any one advise my on this problem?
Windows XP + SP2 and all the updates, Virgin Media PCGuard which is the full package as I am on the 4 meg teir.

I get a warning from PCGuard has found Pigeon PP spyware on my PC but it is unable to remove it.
There is a link on the PCGuard warning to visit the Spyware Centre but that just says Pigeon PP and no other details.

Re: Pigeon PP spyware problem

I would suggest using a different spyware program such as ad aware, see if that does the job. Can you think why you could have got the spyware in the first place? Its good to know so you can prevent getting it in the future, prevention is better than trying to remove it once its there.

Re: Pigeon PP spyware problem

As Chris has said try Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D, just remember to update the definitions of both before running.

Try this one.

http://www.superantispyware.com/

It is a well respected AS. Free on demand scanner. Just make sure you update the definitions first

Re: Pigeon PP spyware problem

Question to any PC experts out there....an area in which my level of competence lies somewhere in the mediocre category!

My system says that this Pigeon PP spyware is located in hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\enum\r oot\legacy_SVKP

Using the registry editor I can access this - is it safe for me to delete it manually? or am I likely to make things worse!

All the best, Andy.

(PS..until this issue is resolved am I right in thinking my computer is not secure (even with virgin pc guard in operation? - and does any of the techno kids at virgin have a clue what's going on?)

Re: Pigeon PP spyware problem

Seems a bit strange that only people using virgin pc guard are getting this, here is another person with the same problem: http://www.bautforum.com/showthread.php?p=1018030
