Re: Pigeon PP spyware problem
Finally heard fron Virgin. This is reply:
Thanks for getting in touch with the Virgin Media support team.
Thanks for your patience waiting for us to reply to your email and
please accept our sincere apologies for the delay. Rest assured that we
are working very hard to answer every customer enquiry, and to ensure
that our reply times reduce back to normal as soon as possible.
While PCGuard will attempt to discover all viruses/spyware trying to be
installed your computer there is a small period of time after a virus is
released before a 'cure' is found for it. Therefore there is a small
possibility that virus could infect your PC without detection (this is
the same for all anti-virus/spyware software).
To remove the spyware from your computer you may need to disable the
System Restore feature on your computer as it could be restoring the
infected file when you restart your computer. Turning this feature off
will allow you to completely remove the spyware. It is also important to
update the Anti-Spyware definition file to help ensure new threats are
handled as effectively as possible.
To remove the spyware, update the spyware definition file then disable
System Restore:
To update the virus definition:-
1. Open PCguard
2. Click My Services
3. Select Anti-Spyware
4. Click Preferences
5. Finally click Update.
To disable System Restore in order to remove this spyware.
1. Please right click on My Computer and click on Properties.
2. Click on System Restore.
3. Make sure that Turn off System Restore on All Drives is checked.
4. Click on Ok. Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart Windows.
5. Once your computer is restarted, run a Anti-Spyware scan.
If there's anything else we can help with, please let us know.
Kind regards,
Lee Grant
