Norton Internet Security,on a dual boot system?
I've just installed Win2000 and WinXP as a dual boot.XP was the original OS and was set up to include Norton Int Sec.
The dual boot works well and all software installs and runs in seperate installations for both OS. However Norton refuses to install as,I presume, it detects the default files installed by the XP installation at c:/program files/symantec and c:/windows/symantec ,these addresses appear to be unalterable unlike the program files,on installation.
Is there any way round this, can the file addresses be altered,or is Norton unsuitable for dual boot systems?

Dosent look good im afraid...

nstalling NIS or NPF to a dual boot computer
Situation:
You have a dual boot computer, and you want to know if Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) can be installed to each operating system and work correctly.
Solution:
Though NIS or NPF may work in some cases when installed to more than one operating system on a single computer, Symantec does not provide support for this configuration.
NOTE: The following information is provided only as a convenience. Symantec does not provide support for the following information or configuration.
To use NIS or NPF on a dual boot computer, install each operating system to a different partition or hard disk, install NIS or NPF to each operating system, and use a different NIS or NPF installation folder for each operating system.
In some cases, NIS or NPF can be used on computers that have more than one operating system, such as Windows 98 and Windows 2000, installed on the same primary partition. If you have more than one operating system installed, you must install NIS or NPF into separate folders for each operating system. Attempting to install NIS or NPF into the same folder may cause conflicts.

Thanks for the reply raja,it looks like its not going to be worth all the bother.Whats the views on installing a different, maybe more effective security program on the Win2000 installation,Norton seems to have few fans!

Each to their own i suppose - look at it as an oppertunity to try something else out.
ZoneAlarm has its fans though if your looking for another - although i don't personally like it myself you might find it better.
