Hey, I seem to have got a loooad of spyware for the first time in ages. Most of it was easily dealt with by adaware etc, but this aurora popup is defiant cannot get rid of it at all and its really annoying!!!

Anyone had it/know how to get rid of it?

Re: Aurora

this is from another forum, so I havn't tried this myself

Quote:
I booted from my XP Pro CD-ROM and brought up the Repair console/command-prompt mode. From there I deleted C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe. I rebooted again from the CD-ROM, selected the option to install XP, followed by the option to do a Repair install. (I forget the exact series of steps to begin a Repair installation; it's fairly self-evident.) I let the Repair installation run, accepting the default settings. After booting normally a HJK scan does not find the F2 entry, full scans by ewido and Ad-aware find nothing, and the Aurora popup windows have not reappeared
other 'fixes' found by googling, either sounded really complicated or were accompanied by warnings that the 'fix' was published by the writers of the popup.....

- you can always do a similar search yourself, if the above sounds a bit drastic.
