Re: avg anti virus problem
Is the program still on start/all programs?
'cos its got it's own uninstall.
otherwise you will have to either restore and start again or search out all the bits thats left

Re: avg anti virus problem
How did you remove it? Sounds like something stuck in the registry.

Was it still running at the time? Might be worth running a registry tool to see if there are any orphan entries relating to AVG left in there.

Re: avg anti virus problem
can't you just save all your work?? you don't lose documents history etc when you restore. You could use avast free anti virus for the time being

Re: avg anti virus problem
Go into Regedit and do a find for "AVG". Remove any entries relating to AVG antivirus.
Search your hard drives for avg*.*
Remove any files/folders relating to AVG anti virus.

Re: avg anti virus problem
might also want to search for grisoft in case avg is in a parent listing. Don't delete anything without double checking it though as the registry is a very delicate thing and your pc can be badly screwed if you get something wrong in there!

Have you tried rebooting since you removed it?

Re: avg anti virus problem
if you only problem is lack of a virus scan and you have no other problems why not try Avast free edition ,as ive mentioned a couple of times in this thread, maybe i got my font set to white and im invisable
You could also try installing avg to a different directory maybe?

sorry zinglebarb you are not invisible and i am sorry if i've upset you it was not intended.
i've tried installing avast as you suggested but it says there could be a problem with zone alarm and i don't know how to fix it to work with zone alarm,so i uninstalled it.
