Zone Alarms

Just to let you all know that there is a problem with Zone Alarms anti virus. It does not appear to be updating it's anti virus definitions, they simply arent being received onto users PCs, all you get is an error message.

I checked on their forum and there seems to be a whole load of folks affected with no resolution in sight, which surprises me as if your anti virus aint up to date, even a novice like me can tell you're vunerable.

I may have fixed it by simply reinstalling it, it's hard to tell, but doing that seemed to cause 2 minor problems as of itself.....I cant do a scan for spyware cookies anymore using ZA security suite (not a great drama as I delete cookies at the end of the night anyway) and also the link to their forum doesn't work (again not a problem as you can get there via the web).

Not very impressive really, especially when you combine it with ZAs incompatibility with MSN messenger 7, another "known problem" that they are working on, theres great howls of anguish on the forum about that. Up to recently I was impressed with Zone Alarms, it seems maybe I should have bought Norton instead.

Zone Alarms...good or crap? Have you guys been having problems now or in the past?

The newest versions now include an anti-virus programme.

And I use it as such.

For anti-virus I use something else (http://www.free-av.com/) which works fine for me.

(Guess I was trying to say "horses for courses" )

Re: Zone Alarms

I noticed the problem with the anti-virus failing to update. However the last update was this morning so I am not panicking yet ...

- actually 'stop press' I just tried & it is working again.

To answer the question posed, yes I use it & normally have zero problems - the 'security suite' functions are very good, especially the mail filter, I just effortlessly deleted 50 spams it had detected.
