Firewall question

Currently using NIS 2003. (tried 2004 & 2005, 2003 wins for less bloatware)

Just wondering of any alternatives to a decent firewall. I would like it to limit my outbound as well as my inbound connections. EG. It asks me everytime if I would current program in use to connect to the net. Also has to be low of the old memory resource hogging factor.

I tried PC Cillin (however you spell it) 2005 - and did not like the fact it was letting everything access to the net as I am used to Norton prompting me everytime for permission.

So ladies & gents... any suggestions. ?

The free version is very good, but there's also a paid for version (still relatively cheap), which gives greater control.

Both versions allow you to restrict outbound connection attempts.

I had a few issues when Zone Alarm was first released, but I am willing to give it another chance as every other program has teething problems.

Any others. ?

I used to use Tiny Personal Firewall at one point (before ZA was fixed to work with XP). Very good, but I'm not sure if it's still free.

There's also Sygate Personal Firewall - I've heard it's pretty good.

I use ZA free - it's fine, though it does have a habit of leaking memory. So every couple of days I start up the XP firewall, close ZA, then reopen ZA - which fixes the problem.

I have used sygate personal firewall - not as easy to use as zone alarm and a little quirky, but does the biz. http://www.sygate.com
