What you need to do is connect the yellow network cable from the modem to the the Netgear thingy (which is called a wireless router by the way) Connect the other end of the network cable into the WAN port on the router (the one on it's own next to the row of 4 switch ports).
Your pc connects with a 2nd network cable into any one of the 4 ports. Now do a staged power-up, modem first then once the lights have settled down power to router and finally pc. You should now have an internet connection.
