it works yep, but whether or not it is also introducing signal noise on the line without your knowledge is another matter.

which is why I dont advise the use of anything other than VM equivalent cable.

if you use lower grade cable, it may well work but if it creates a problem and VM trace back to you it leaves you liable.

So it is a case of proceed at your own risk... and if VM detect you have tampered on any engineer visit in future you maybe fined or charged for the visit as its hard to prove the problem was not caused by your changes.,
