I'm an oldie and liked the days when there was NO live tv coverage, was over the moon if my team were featured on match of the day, shivered watching after school matches, training and gave up Sunday mornings and shivered again and shared a coffee with a valued player who had served his time and got passed on for £50.
I prefer ice hockey and speedway now - it all seems a lot more honest and is at the same time fragile.
I can't quite see Rooney as that much of an asset...

Football was a business long before Sky came along. 1979 was the first £1 million transfer.
Ice Hockey and speedway are both businesses as well. After all those players from Canada and the States don't come over here to play for free.
And Rooney is a huge asset to manchester utd despiet his off the field activities.
