To me football is a sport, whether it's my kids in the back garden, in the play ground, on a plain piece of dirt/grass/sand or in somewhere that has turnstiles.
It's the business side (I think mainly SKY) that has wrecked it for me and I gave up my season ticket seat to goodness knows who. The schedules beat my work demands.

I'm an oldie and liked the days when there was NO live tv coverage, was over the moon if my team were featured on match of the day, shivered watching after school matches, training and gave up Sunday mornings and shivered again and shared a coffee with a valued player who had served his time and got passed on for £50.

I prefer ice hockey and speedway now - it all seems a lot more honest and is at the same time fragile.

I can't quite see Rooney as that much of an asset...
