A lot of moulded plugs have mains filters built in to prevent interference going back into the mains. The plug will have markings on it to say if it has, usually a coil symbol or the wording uhenrys (not got the symbol for micro its a u with a tail).
Removing the plug will not effect the tv but could allow interference into your mains supply.
