He loves dancing and music videos, these arent all good, games with shooting arent good but who else plays them with kids around, normal TV is even a big no no. They are like sponges absorbing everything around them, my nephew acts like its ok to knife someone and hes 7.

Im determined he wont turn out like we all dont want them to but it gets hard when everywhere you turn theres violence, even the news is a no go.

When I was younger my mum wouldnt even let me have a toy gun, when I was 15 she slapped me round the face infront of my mates when she found I had a pellet gun. Now my son runs round making peeooow poeeeooow noises at police cars and I can see where she was coming from

I hope he recovers ok mate, at 14 they should be playing footy in the park, when I was 14 you might get a threat of a beating but not being knifed, times have changed for the worse
My generation played at cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians and all that stuff back in the 50s and 60s.We had toy guns and when we didn't we used our fingers. We had pen knives(not flick knives though) but we never stabbed anyone.
I wandered the back streets of Portsmouth and never thought of being attacked by anyone let alone being stabbed.I taught in one of the roughest Portsmouth secondary schools during the 70s and 80s and the kids didn't carry knives. They beat each other up though they were more likely to beat up the inmates of the next school over but knives were never involved.

In fact knives only became an issue with teenagers during the 90s.I'm trying to rack my brains as to why and I just can't think what was the turning point.
