This is only based on the fact Tivo will replace V+ (it would be pointless to retain such a similar product). It may be classed as a premium product, true, but you have to remember V+ has already dropped considerably as a cash-cow, and with Tivo providing more HD and greater Internet connectivity, I don't believe there is enough to warrant a price hike.
Having been a Tivo user from Day 1, the ability of the device to make 'suggestions' is for me the prime mover in getting one, and I would certainly (given a choice) drop a V+ to take Tivo - it is a no-brainer.
My concern, us that they announce something (in November 2009) and some 5 months later, it STILL is not available to access by VM customers.
