Ignition your reply has made me think of a logical reason why my exchange and other city centre ones are not picked.

The fact that a largish % of connected lines are probably not residental and I expect vdsl2 is primarily aimed at residental users.

When I emailed my MP (who is on BT's board so can guess who it is), she did reply fast saying she would bring it up at a board meeting, but I expect I was fobbed off, she is not standing in the next election and I see she has had a lot of bad press recently as well so probably isnt too concerned about her area anymore.
