Not true, Phishing sites and also trojans/keyloggers and other security problems have targeted paypal just the same as other online accounts so it's not just buying items where you are at risk

In the end if you have decent security, keep an eye on your statements (online or paper) then you;re protected just as much as you would when you use your card inthe shop and hide your pin or make sure that there isn;t a skimmer attached to an ATM before you use it.

Remember that you are the weakest link in the security chain, not the system
