Just because you can do it on a computer doesn't mean Virgin will let you do it on their STB. You are failing to realise companies pay big money for the rights to air programming and even if some show are available legitimately on the internet you can bet your bottom dollar that they only have internet streaming rights. VM would be hit with more law suites then they would know what to do with.

All the on-line content will only be available that VM has a deal in place for, even YouTube will restrict what can and can not be watched by this portal. I am only speculating but seeing as how companies like to protect their investments I can't see this happening any other way.
