If the process has got in such a look that it's unstoppable by either killing the application or process then I'm afraid a reboot is the only way to go.. But having said that you might find that it's another application or process that's crashing it and by killing this 3rd party process it'll drop down the original.. As to fnding out which 3rd party process well that comes from either experience or plain dumb luck
