A slight mistake there Gary, upon checking the link it say, "Intentionally injuring or killing a police animal is a crime punishable under Louisiana law with a minimum of one year jail time."
It did sound a bit extreme, even for a southern state like Louisiana, to send a man to the electric chair for shooting officer poochie.
