Re: Xbox? PC? PS3? Retro? Which Do YOU Prefer?
I own PC, XBOX 360 and a Sega Megadrive (so a bit more retro for you there). The megadrive would be my favourite, unfortunately it doesn't look too good on the large LCD. I like PC games but things have become too expensive there, pretty much since NVIDIA dominance came about some years ago. I play the Wii a bit elsewhere.
My favourite games are platform, strategy, driving and fps. Many modern sports and rpgs bore the pants off me.
Of the 7th generation consoles I think the 360 is the best. XBOX live is pretty good, achievements and the whole interface more fun. It has several serious flaws though. The DVD drive is mindbogglingly loud. So you can copy games to the HD, that's great but it's only just happened. Even playing DVDs (at the lower speed) are still noisy. It could do with a cool browser like the Wii has too. Strange thing but I would have liked something like folding on the 360. Playback of DVDs is not quite as good as the PS3 or other players and it obviously doesn't have a blu-ray player. The Wii is a fantastic piece of kit. If it were high def and had achievements I think it would be my favourite.
P.S. If I were richer I'd do a lot more PC gaming. Played many cool things on that over the years. Also am not too happy with Micro$oft at the moment. The Party system for XBOX live is seriously screwed up.
