I have a phone service - it was part of a broadband/tv/phone bundle that I got, as it was cheaper than getting broadband and tv without phone. As such, we've never had a phone plugged into the line before, and we have no dial-up modems or anything else that plugs into the phone sockets. The cable tv box and broadband is via ethernet and wireless connections to a router - which, along with another line from the cable tv box, is plugged into the cable modem.
