Re: Has the Phorm threat finally died??
Firstly Phorm is not a taboo subject. Cable Forum will be reopening discussion on Phorm related issues in due course. There will probably be a number of threads, each dealing with a specific aspect of the issue. The Cable Forum Team is compiling the information to commence each thread, but this is a lengthy process, due to the amount of stuff needinig to be sifted..
Phorm is an important issue. We will be allowing full discussion to take place, once the threads have been started with a clear framework to enable subsequent debate. We are very clear that discussion will be for everybody, whatever their viewpoint. We will not be allowing an outspoken minority to disrupt and "rule the roost", as happened last time round. One only has to look at parts of the mega thread to see how in fact it was the actions of a few so called anti phorm campaigners that played into Phorm's hands by continued inappropriate posts, despite many warnings.
We will not need to be excercising censorship based on previous post count, reputation, or similar. That is not our style, and indeed it becomes quite impractical as it would no doubt affect other postings abilities too.
It is my understanding that the Cable Forum Team members are generally against the idea of Phorm. On that basis any insinuation that we have capitulated, or whatever is frankly rediculous.
I'm closing this thread, since the Cable Forum Position is clear. We will be getting new threads started as soon as we are able, and there is something substantive, rather than speculative to debate.
