I have a Netgear RangeMax WPN824 V2, it never matters what you switch on first, Modem or router, they sort themselves out. PC has connection by the time it loads up. If the PC is already on, and the others are then switched on, within a min it has access to the internet.

Router setting (mostly default): Did you change anything ?

If it was working for 3 days, have you changed anything ?

Also, if you have configured the PC for LAN (Via cable) and then switch to WI Fi, this can also cause problems in your PC

Does the router show whose connected ? If it does then its working, and must be a setting in the PC, try removing all networks in the PC

Also, do you have the Netgear "find WiFi" (Channel etc) program, does it lock ok and find the WiFi ?. Have you set the router to brodcast its name, but later terned it off, but the PC has lost its settings ?
