No it's not. the Samsung V boxes do nothing different than either the Pace or Scientific Atlanta boxes

Again, you don't know that. Existing customers have been swapped out for Samsung boxes for free where appropriate when their existing Pace or Scientfic Atlanta boxes don't work any more.

Customers who had to buy their cable modems way back get swapped out for free to the latest modems if needed to support the service they subscribe to.
