Yes, and by the sounds of it, your PC works with any other monitor, just not that one.

If you do the above test it will prove if its the monitor unable to handle the resolution or not, as in theory the PC's POST(power on self test) should be in a really low resoution.

I'll put my question another way: Did it stop working overnight, or have you not used it for some time?

What's the make and model of the monitor, have you googled to see if it's got a "reset to factory settings" option.
