I was going to get a xbox360 rather than a PS3, but I bought a 40" sony bravia 1080P tv, so, as it does 1080P I wanted a high def player for films. Xbox 360 HDDVD is now dead as far as future releases, so for the same money as a stand alone Blue ray player, I got a PS3. I am happy!

Although the game choice and price is a little poor currently!
