If I remember correctly the highway code states your speedometer must be accurate to + or - 10% to be legal.
I have also noticed when I approach those "your speed" devices near schools or accident black spots, they always show my speed to be some 2 to 4 mph lower than my speedo reading.As does the speed reading on my Tom Tom sat nav.
