The scart socket on the V+ box is disabled if you use the HDMI output.
Setting it to record through the extras menu opens the scart port so you can record to video or dvd, plus you can continue to watch any other channel through HDMI at the same time.
Sometimes I have to power cycle my DVD recorder before it picks up the scart signal from the V+ box when I am recording.
