It seems to me a true elitist would understand that there is far more to an assessment of camera quality than a simple megapixel calculation.

(they'll have to do the math first of course - and they will only be able to see it - after they see the specification - you know the sort we are talking about - OK?

No, I'm afraid I've never heard of these. Perhaps you bought the wrong kind of elitist? I don't know what ASDA's return policy is, but you should try to get a refund and maybe save up for a better one.

here you imply anyone else ("they") using digital technology - is so - just because they're stupid - any other concievable reason has been dimissed out of hand

No, you're imagining things. I'm merely commenting on a well documented lack of knowledge among the average consumer. There's a reason they're called "average", you know.

which in turn suggests digital = poor/worse/for the idiots only

Again, I've said no such thing. Stating that DTV audio isn't CD quality audio says nothing about its usefulness, its lack thereof, or how it might compare with analog.

no body is making any claims about CD audio which is another stab a digital technology (coincidence - not! ) and is a very old chestnut

Old chestnut, but nobody made the claim? Errr, right, then.

elitists can carry on playing vinyl, and shooting 35mm film (because they read it somewhere) - but to suggest 'we' are all stupid because we buy 'digital' is the definition of elitism - for the record, it's also crap as well

I'll once again have to remind you not to put words in my mouth. Read what I wrote. Don't just make stuff up.

actually - prolly best if you don't post here unless you paid £3000 up for your monitor - better still a CRT with r/f in - otherwise you could be in for a real bumpy ride.

Quite the contrary. Posting here, or at least reading forums like these, is likely to improve your knowledge about many of these subjects.
