Vigilante Justice

Link
"Two men have been sentenced for killing a burglar in what was described as a "vigilante" attack.

Alan Harris, 37, was kicked, punched and stamped on after being found stealing in Wolverhampton in 2007.

Lee Gannon, 25, whose flat was burgled was jailed for manslaughter for nine years while Michael Joyce, 21, was given a life sentence for murder.

The judge, Mr Justice Foskett, said: "Justice is for the courts not for an impromptu vigilante group."

Joyce, of Wednesfield, was told at Birmingham Crown Court that he will serve a minimum term of 13 years.

Three other men were cleared of murder by a jury in March. The court heard on Friday that Mr Harris was stealing to fund a drug addiction"
