Guess it depends whether you report the crimes direct to the Police or via Crimestoppers. Could it be possible that the Police sometimes treat reports from the public differently from those reported via Crimestoppers? It's a sad indictment of our law enforcement system that such valuable work has to be undertaken by a charity but I suspect some feel more able to communicate information via such a group.
